Today, Indian mobile phone maker Karbonn has unveiled to the world two octa-core smartphones, in the form of Titanium Octane and Titanium Octane Plus, both of which are set to become available for purchase as soon as the next month.

Both of the company’s new devices will arrive with the octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor inside, which has been clocked in at 1.7GHz. They also feature the Mali 450 MP4 GPU.

Despite that, however, Karbonn will bring them to the market as mid-range devices, and the price tags announced for them prove just that.

According to the mobile phone maker, the two will arrive on shelves in India in the first week of April priced at Rs 14,490 ($237/€170) and Rs 17,990 ($295/€212), respectively.

The first handset in the series, the Karbonn Titanium Octane, was unveiled with a 5-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and with 1GB of RAM to complement the aforementioned processor.

Moreover, the mobile phone features 16GB of internal memory as well as a microSD memory card slot that offers support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

On the back, the handset has a 13-megapixel camera with LED flash and support for full HD video recording, paired with a 5MP camera on the front, great for making video calls while on the go.

Titanium Octane will land on shelves with support for 3G networks, as well as with the usual Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities and a built-in GPS receiver. The smartphone is powered by a 2000mAh Li-Ion battery.

Karbonn’s new Titanium Octane Plus also features a 5-inch touchscreen display, but it can deliver a full HD resolution, which should translate into a better overall viewing experience.

Moreover, the handset features 2GB of RAM, for even better performance. However, it was announced with 16GB of internal memory as well and with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

On the back, this phone sports a 16-megapixel camera with LED flash and full HD video recording capabilities, while packing an 8MP camera on the front.

Titanium Octane Plus comes with the same connectivity capabilities as Titanium Octane and includes a 2000mAh battery too. Moreover, as BGR India notes, both smartphones were announced with the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system loaded on top.

Both the Titanium Octane and Titanium Octane Plus seem very appealing smartphones, though it remains to be seen how well they will fare on the market, especially since devices packing similar specs and capabilities have already arrived on shelves.
