She left American Idol a short while ago, but Kara DioGuardi is already moving on, with a similar show. She and Jewel have just landed a new reality series on Bravo called Going Platinum.

Since DioGuardi is a singer-songwriter, music producer and publisher, it’s not hard to guess what the new show will be all about: she will act as judge on a singing-songwriting televised competition.

When she left American Idol, she only said she felt that was the “best time” to go down a different path. Given the recent announcement, many are wondering whether she didn’t leave because she wanted to have her own show.

As it happens, fans will probably never know exactly what happened.

“The 39-year-old will join the judging panel on Going Platinum, a new show set to premiere on Bravo next year, which will see 12 contestants compete for a $100,000 publishing deal with Sony, and a record deal with RCA/Jive,” Contact Music says of the new show.

DioGuardi will not be the only celebrity involved in it either, since singer Jewel has also agreed to come on board. She will act as host of the show and mentor of the aspiring singers.

“Going Platinum is looking to set itself apart from American Idol by offering its contestants the opportunity to write and perform their own music for the show, rather than singing established hits, and the judges will decide who stays and who goes, rather than the television audience,” Contact Music further says.

“A representative for Going Platinum said that the new show will see ‘personal drama unfold.’ It was also confirmed that well-known recording artists will feature as guest judges each week,” reads the same report.

And DioGuardi is not the only one to move to greener pastures after American Idol. Just recently, Paula Abdul too got her own show, on which she’s also acting as producer.

It’s called Live to Dance and, as its name suggests, it will focus on struggling dancers who want to go pro. Paula will be judge, mentor and producer of the show, as we also reported a while back.
