Rapper showcases new music on SNL, “Black Skinhead” and “New Slaves”

People were unpleasantly surprised or even outraged when word got out that Kanye West was calling his next album “I Am God.” Turns out that’s the (approximate) title of a new song. The album is called “Yeezus.”

Kanye West’s now proverbial ego has officially reached new heights. Kanye is also known as ‘Ye, so the name of the album is actually a combination of his name and Jesus.

Over the weekend, Kanye showcased two brand new songs from the album: he was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, hosted by Oscar-winner Ben Affleck, and he performed “Black Skinhead” and “New Slaves.”

Check them out both below, embedded at the end of this post.

“Black Skinhead” samples Marilyn Manson’s “Beautiful People” and, because of it, it is my favorite of the two. I like the other one as well, in that it attests that, musically, ‘Ye remains as versatile and creative as ever.

It’s the ego that bugs.
