Rapper Kanye West is preparing for the release of a brand new album, called “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” but he’s already having some problems with it, since, he says, Walmart has banned his cover.

Over the weekend, Kanye took to his Twitter to vent, says E! Online: the US doesn’t want to remember how artwork for music albums used to look in the days of yore and it’s putting a ban on his.

However, while he remains determined to sell music, the rapper is not willing to do so at the expense of his creativity. So he’s making the artwork known to fans via his Twitter.

The artwork for the “Fantasy” album consists of a small photo that imitates a painting, placed against a bright red backdrop.

The photo shows two reclining silhouettes, one of a black man and a white woman on top. The man seems to be holding a bottle of alcohol, while the woman has no head, no arms, but wings and a tail.

That’s because, as Kanye puts it, it’s not a woman we’re looking at but a Phoenix, which represents Kanye’s coming back to the game with an album that will be all about the fans, as he said on several previous occasions.

“Banned in the USA!!! They don’t want me chilling on the couch with my phoenix!” Kanye wrote on Twitter, also including a link to the photo that got him the ban.

Back in the ‘70s, this is exactly what album covers used to look like, he says. “It’s so funny that people forget that... Everything has been so commercialized now,” Kanye adds.

“I know that cover just blew yall minds... I wish yall could see how hard I’m smiling right now!!!” the rapper says.

“In all honesty... I really don’t be thinking about Wal-Mart when I make my music or album covers #Kanyeshrug!” Kanye explains.

He adds: “I wanna sell albums but not at the expense of my true creativity.”

Also in the name of creativity and artistic expression, just recently, Kanye announced that, until Christmas, he would be releasing a new song every Friday (either his or one that he worked on), thus instating what he calls “G.O.O.D. Fridays.”
