Kanye West plays the “grownup” card, tweets his love to Matt Lauer – with a touch of bitter irony

As per his own words, Kanye West was ambushed on The Today Show by Matt Lauer, when the talk show host tried to force his answers. In yet another Twitter rant, the rapper claims he’s not mad – and even sends all his love to Lauer.

The whole scandal began shortly after West taped the Today interview, which he’d agreed to because he wanted to apologize (more or less) to Bush for calling him a racist a while back.

Asked about the label West pinned on him – by the same Lauer – Bush said he believed it was the lowest point in his Presidency, which reportedly prompted Kanye to step up to the plate and agree to do the interview to apologize.

Things didn’t turn out to his liking as, in order to illustrate that Kanye too had been judged harshly in the past, Lauer played the video of the VMA interruption, when he cut Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech short.

Kanye did not take kindly to the interruption, going on a very long Twitter rant about how the media was always trying to ambush him and force him to say and do bad things just to sell more copies.

Lauer, on his part, said he did nothing wrong by playing the video of the interruption, since it’s standard procedure on the show – and hinting that the rapper was, again, exaggerating.

Just to set the record straight: Kanye may be upset but he doesn’t hate Lauer. In a move showing that he’s taking the high road, the rapper her returned to Twitter to send all his best wishes to the television personality.

“Right now I’m not complaining,” Kanye tweeted after The Today clip aired on TV. On the contrary, actually, he went on to say: “I’m tweeting because I’m so happy you guys got to see this [expletive] really go down!!!!! : ))))))!!!! FINALLY!!!”

“And I don’t hate Matt Lauer... We don’t promote hate. That’s the whole point!!! I promote love and truth!... we’re all products or our environments ... reflections of our surroundings...” the rapper said.

He then proceeded to putting an end to the so-called feud – by sending out his love to Lauer once more.

“You know what... WE OFF THAT!!!... They made a mistake... they thought they could pull it but they couldn’t! That was just a small... representation of a bigger media play that’s been going on since the beginning of time,” Kanye tweeted.

“All positive energy... all smiles. Much love to Matt and the whole Today Show. I accept ya’ll future apology in advance LOL!” he said.

So far, neither Lauer nor the producers of the show have extended their apologies to Mr. West, probably much to his surprise.
