14 DAY TRIAL // These days, as the dust settles on the “wedding of the century” affair, more and more people are beginning to wonder why Beyonce and Jay Z were no-shows when Kim Kardashian and Kanye West said their vows in Italy last month.
Kris Jenner has dismissed the issue, but Kanye doesn't seem to be as forgiving. In a recent concert at the X Games in Austin, Texas, the singer performed one of his greatest hits, the song “Blood on The Leaves” and later he sang “Cold.”
The people in attendance, while thrilled to see their idol on stage, couldn't help but notice that there was something wrong with the lyrics of the songs. Mainly, it was Jay Z's name that didn't make itself heard on the night of the performance.
Naturally, this has sparked rumors that Kanye is mad at Jay Z for not showing up to the biggest event of his life. Kanye is known for holding a grudge and also famous for making hours-long rants about people who cross him. However, it seems that not even he had the Audacity to publicly shame Jay and start a feud with the powerful music mogul.
Instead, Kanye chose to skip his name from his song lyrics. Normally, the lyrics of the song “Cold” are supposed to go, “Lucky I ain't had Jay drop him from the team,” but on the night her performed in Texas, Kanye simply went from “had” to “drop” without missing a beat, but missing a name.
But that's only half the issue. If for the song “Cold” Kanye forgets Jay's name, for the song “Blood on the Leaves,” he actually went to the trouble of changing the lyrics to leave Jay Z out. The original lyrics go “I don’t give a damn if you used to talk to Jay-Z. He ain’t with you, he with Beyonce, you need to stop actin lazy.”
On the night of the concert, however, Kanye sang, “I don’t give a damn if you used to talk to [SILENCE]. He ain’t with you, he with Beyonce, you need to stop actin crazy.” So, he not only left Jay Z out of the song, but changed the word “lazy” to “crazy,” probably hinting that the singer was crazy to diss him.
Kanye and Jay Z go way back, which is why people were amazed that the latter skipped on the wedding where many thought that he was going to be the best man. Though they were not at the event, Jay and Beyonce are said to have gifted the new married couple with a bottle of Chianti dipped in gold and with a diamond cork. Kanye, however, seems to have remained unimpressed.
