The Kanye West backlash continues, with more and more celebrities speaking up to express their disapproval of what the rapper did at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. Country singer Tim McGraw, for one, believes Kanye deserves a “nice” whooping for the rude gesture of interrupting Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech – and he’s not even joking about it, as People magazine can confirm.

People magazine caught up with the singer and asked him how he felt about Kanye’s interruption of Taylor at the VMAs and, as anyone can imagine, McGraw did not have kind words for him. However, the singer took the interruption personally, since his three daughters were all watching the awards and were dying to hear Taylor speak, since they’re such big fans. They were, of course, disappointed that they didn’t get to hear Taylor until towards the end of the awards ceremony.

“He shows himself to be an idiot every time he does stuff like that.” McGraw says for People. “[My girls] were upset. But what he did do is provide a great example of how not to be, and my girls learned a big lesson. When they weren’t looking I said, ‘He needs an [expletive] whoopin’!’” the singer further explains for the aforementioned publication. As the country singer's fans know, the feeling is mutual, as Taylor Swift’s first single is dedicated to Tim McGraw and is called “Tim McGraw,” so it’s no wonder he took the offense so personally.

Another person who took Kanye’s interruption very personally was Stephen Colbert, who even came up with an explanation for the rapper's acting so inconsiderately on the night of the awards. In a recent Comedy Central segment, Colbert addresses the latest scandal that is ripping the celebrity world apart to explain that Taylor Swift is actually his sweetheart (with apologies to his wife for having to find out that way) and Kanye, always the one to hold a grudge, attacked Colbert by attacking his “soulmate.”

The clip – also included below – ends with Colbert telling Kanye he should have chosen another man to pick a fight with and a warning that, if he continues attacking his soulmate Taylor, Colbert too will attack the person he loves the most in this world – Kanye himself. Enjoy.
