Kanye West likes nothing better than to steal someone else’s thunder in public, second only to talking about himself as of the genius he is. He might even be nice if you don’t turn the tables on him, which is what comedienne Amy Schumer did at the Time 100 Gala that took place in NYC the other night.

When Amy pulled a Kanye on Kanye and stole his and Kim’s thunder on the red carpet, by throwing herself at their feet as if by accident, she not only earned the world’s praise, but also Kimye’s antipathy.

Kanye and Kim must hate Amy

You can see video of the “totally unplanned accident” below, at the end of this article. Kanye and Kim, both featured on Time’s annual Most Influential list (he is also featured on one of the special covers, so this was a big moment for him), were done posing for pictures outside the venue.

They turned to walk away, which proved the best opportunity for Amy to cause a scene and thus help to bring these two with their feet on the ground again.

Even though you can hear everyone on the scene laughing, both photographers and celebrities, Kim and Kanye weren’t even remotely amused by the prank. Kim at least gives a little smile, but Kanye looks throughout the whole thing as if he’s screaming internally.

He is not amused and he doesn’t appreciate someone coming in over him like that and taking some of the glory of the moment from him. Amy just gave him a taste of his own bitter medicine, and he’s not loving it.

Based on his (priceless) reaction and whispers coming from inside sources, buzz online right now has it that Kanye is harboring a deep dislike for the comedienne. If that’s true, he’s missing the point of her prank.

Why did Amy do it?

Asked by Time, who organized the bash, why she chose to drop down at Kimye’s feet, Amy says she had every reason not to abstain from it.

“I saw them and said to my publicist: ‘Can I pretend to fall?’ and she said, ‘I can’t stop you’,” she explains.

Her gesture is being interpreted by the world as her way of bringing down a notch Kanye and Kim’s ego, and reminding them they’re not all that, as they seem to think they are. Being on Time’s Most Influential list must have already boosted their egos (especially Kanye’s), and this was her way to show them that they’re not to take themselves too seriously.

It’s also seen as a sign of mockery for the farce of having them on the aforementioned list, which once used to mean something more than just fawning over useless celebrities.

Clearly, Kanye is not getting the joke.
