Rapper Kanye West declared he vowed he will never be interested in policy anymore, after he slammed President George Bush for his attitude towards the New Orleans crisis during an NBC live telethon for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Kayne West, who was not scheduled to perform, but to read from the scripts prepared by the network about the impact of Katrina on southern Louisiana and Mississippi, blasted Bush and the media for their portrayal of African-American survivors of the hurricane, saying:
"If you see a black family it's looting but if it's a white family they are looking for food… George Bush doesn't care about black people."
But it appears that West was so disgusted by Bush and his policy that before start singing at this week's National Football League opening concert, the singer says: "I don't want to detract from the show at all, because it's entertainment, and a lot of times, in a time of need, we need entertainment to lift people's spirits."
