Critically-acclaimed author Bret Easton Ellis of the “American Psycho” fame is now writing the script for a new movie based on Kanye West’s life, believed to be called “Yeezus,” just like his most recent album and the tour that he just wrapped in support of it. Kim Kardashian will play one of the leading parts.

And she will be doing so as herself, insiders familiar with the production say for Radar Online. Kanye himself won’t appear in the movie, but he made sure Ellis understood that he wanted to be involved in the creative process because he wanted Kim in the film.

Since Kim has been trying to break out of the reality star mold she forged for herself and establish herself as either a respectable actress or singer (quite unsuccessfully so far), getting a juicier part in a film would probably help her get her foot through the door.

As far as Kanye is concerned, he’s reportedly very determined to make this happen for her. Ever since they started dating, there’s been a lot of talk about how Kanye has been trying to legitimize Kim by removing the reality star stigma from her image. Some would argue that his efforts haven’t really been all that successful – but the biopic could turn things around.

“It’s going to be based on the ‘Yeezus‘ album. That’s pretty much a narrative of Kanye’s life. [Kanye] will not appear in the movie [but] Kim is definitely going to be in it. The screenplay already features her character,” says a spy.

“They’re still working on the script, so it’s unclear at this point if Kim will be a major star of the movie or making a smaller cameo, but her role in the movie will be pivotal,” the insider continues, adding that, “her role is going to be very dramatic, far from the bubbly happy persona that she’s always played.”

Kanye wants the film to be in loving memory of his mother Donda West, who died in 2007 of complications from plastic surgery. The two were famously close, with the rapper even saying in an interview this week that one of his biggest regrets in life is that Donda never got to meet his daughter with Kim, North.

This movie could be a way of getting his family together, figuratively speaking, of course.

However, don’t expect “Yeezus” the film to be out in a theater near you too soon, since Ellis himself said a few days ago that not even he knew what to expect. “It’s Kanye Land, and that’s subject to a whole other time frame,” he stressed.
