Kanye West has always been very proud of his bling; after all, he’s the same guy who got diamond teeth saying they were cooler than the real deal. Now, he’s just purchased a custom-made diamond watch, with his own face on it.

As PopEater puts it, there’s an overinflated ego – and then there’s Kanye. The rapper teamed up with jeweler Tiret to make him a custom-made gold and diamond watch valued at $180,000.

What’s so special about this timepiece is not the money Kanye paid for it, nor the time the Tiret designer spent working on it, but rather the fact that it has Kanye’s face on it, made from diamonds.

Moreover, reports say that West has already been spotted around town with his new bling, which only makes sense: the man’s paid for it, he wants to show it off, the aforementioned e-zine notes.

“The watch, which reportedly set West back $180,000, is encrusted with 8 karats of yellow, black, brown and white diamonds in the shape of his own face (with glasses!),” PopEater writes.

“According to reports, watchmaker Tiret took over 5 months to create the dial of the watch itself, which is made of a gold colored mother-of-pearl,” says the same report.

And, because other entertainers believe Kanye was a visionary when he commissioned Tiret for the job, there’s a new trend picking up in showbiz right now, with more and more of them getting similar timepieces.

“Following Kanye’s lead, other entertainers have also begun to seek out Tiret’s custom made watches. Last month, singer Usher commissioned the Damon Dash-owned New York luxury watch company to create a one-of-a-kind timepiece with his face on it for a cool $250,000,” PopEater reports.

As also noted above, in October last year, Kanye took bling to new heights, when he posted on Twitter pictures of his new diamond teeth, which he claimed were real implants, there to stay.

Asked by Ellen DeGeneres why the need to put diamonds in his mouth, the rapper simply said that he thought these were far “cooler” than the regular pearly whites.
