We've heard quite a lot about Eidos in the last few months, largely due to the fact that it was recently bought by Japanese company Square Enix and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the corporation. But this doesn't mean any big changes at the company, where it's business as usual and more interesting projects, even though a lot of them are sequels.

Now, Ian Livingstone, the recently appointed lifetime president of the UK-based publisher, has talked with GamingIndians about the Kane and Lynch franchise, focusing on the fact that a movie adaptation of the first game is taking shape in Hollywood. While it hasn't entered the production phase, things are looking good and we will get to see a great movie, Livingstone says.

“We understand Bruce Willis will be in the film. Unfortunately, I can’t talk too much about it at the moment. We’re very excited in general that Hollywood sees value in the characters we’ve created. Hollywood initially created its own characters; then they looked to books and comic books for stories and characters, and now they’re looking at games, because they see the rise in the popularity of these video game characters. So it’s great that we’ve had Tomb Raider movies, we’ve had a Hitman movie; now there’s a Kane and Lynch movie and possibly another Tomb Raider movie.”

With this new film and the sequel to the first game set to appear this year, it seems that the two criminals will be once again in the spotlight of gamers around the world. Hopefully though, this new game will improve on the recipe of the first and manage to leave a lasting impression on the gaming public based solely on its merits and not on the controversy surrounding it.

Look forward to more details about Kane and Lynch 2 and the movie based on the franchise as they appear from Eidos.
