Ke$ha is undeniably the hottest pop artist of the moment, her first single off her debut album “Animal,” called “TiK ToK,” selling so far downloads by the million. Given her popularity, it’s only understandable that she also be invited to perform on the most watched television show right now, the singing competition American Idol, as Rolling Stone can confirm.
Dressed in a gray metallic mini dress and, at some point, sporting a feathery headdress, Ke$ha was joined on stage by the duo 3OH!3, Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte, who are also featured on the track and in the official video. In the background, a troupe of dancers with large TV monitors on their heads did their best to keep up with the upbeat tempo of the track. Another thing about the performance worthy of mention is the fact that, as promised, Ke$ha sang live.
Still, people’s reactions to the performance continue to be mixed, as UnrealityTV also notes. Ke$ha is the kind of artist that you either love to death or absolutely hate, it’s being said. While many love Ke$ha’s style and her specific sound, others simply can’t understand what is with the fuss about her, with some American Idol fans saying that to have her as a model for contestants, all aspiring pop stars, is the worst thing one can do. Judges have no right to ask from contestants to give it their best and sing their hearts out when this is what a modern pop star sounds like, this particular AI blogger writes.
“Ke$sha took to the stage to sing her newest single ‘Blah Blah Blah.’ The track is the second single from Ke$ha’s debut album ‘Animal.’ We loved her funky silver dress and were immensley thankful that she didn’t lip sych, but we just can’t get into this songstress. It’s like she is trying way too hard to be Lady Gaga and comes off looking like a poor imitation (or should that be irritation?). Halfway through the performance, Ke$ha was joined by duo 3OH!3 (Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte), the men who are featured on the track,” UnrealityTV says.
However, in the end, liking Ke$ha’s music and, implicitly, her most recent live performance, on American Idol, is entirely a matter of taste. Below is the video of the pop star singing “Blah Blah Blah” – watch it and see for yourselves how it went.
You wrote..."Another thing about the performance worthy of mention is the fact that, as promised, Ke$ha sang live."
Not quite true. You failed to mention that her performance was taped earlier in the day. Around 3:00 p.m. the day of the show. So no, it was not "live".
I didn't like the first impression I got from the performance as I watched American Idol, but then I waited a couple of days and watched it again on YouTube and I found it had actually come off pretty good. I think the worst part was the guys trying to do that rap breakdown. I don't think they brought anything to the performance and actually detracted from it by nearly 100 percent. She seems a little worn out during the performance, I suppose from touring? Anyway, the message isn't good for kids which is primarily who watches her. I mean, talking about getting some in the back of her CAR CAR CAR...considering the age group that goes for this sort of music, I think the powerful entertainment executives that push this stuff are extremely irresponsible and wooden headed. Oh well, you gotta expect that, considering the source. It is amazing how the breaking down of America can be so successful especially when you consider that everyone that orders our entertainment and media is of questionable moral reput. Did I mention that entertainment executives are of questionable moral reput? Did I? Oh, yes of course. Keep paying them top dollar to push this tripe, and keep the downfall on a strong whirpooling spiral! YAY!!! America was great.
