KTF Launched the Mysterious HSPDA EV-W100 Cellphone

I always had to dedicate some time to do a little research when writing about a cellphone launched by some random carrier or mobile phone manufacturer in Korea due to the way this releases are made: under the curtains and with as little details as possible.

In this case, the time dedicated for the research related to the EV-W100 cellphone coming on the KTF Telecom's network has been longer than ever before.

And, guess what, despite all this struggling, I barely managed to find the necessary data to be able to give it a proper description, not only mentioning its name and the fact that it has been
launched in Korea.

Let us return now to the main subject of this article, namely the mysterious EV-W100 HSPDA cellphone released today in Korea by KTF.

The handset sports high-speed data transmission via its HSPDA built-in technology of course, video telephony and a "lip sync" feature letting the future users choose an avatar (one can choose between a man, a woman, a gorilla and a cat) and show it on the screen while video conferencing instead of their real image.

The phone users can also add flash effects to the device, use its 2 megapixel digital camera, the Bluetooth connectivity to listen to music wirelessly, a 330.000 words dictionary, the multitasking capability that will come quite handy when you want to listen to music and browse your photo collection at the same time, all these topped by a number of included portable data storage functions.

If you wondered what's up with the EV in the front of its name, don't tell anyone, but here is what I found so far: as all the other cellphones available in the wild and wearing this prefix, this specific handset is also manufactured (as it seems) by VK Mobile.

Wearing the brand of a little known phone manufacturer like VK partially explains why the EV-W100 has come without an attached detailed spec sheet.

One thing is for sure, if you want to get your hands on it prepare taking a trip to Korea because that's the only place you will be able to find it and also be ready to pay under 400.000 KRW if you want it to be all yours (according to my calculation, that's under 420 American dollars).
