A beach in front of South Chennai, India is now home to a KFC green outlet.

Thus, the people who come to eat here can take pride in the fact that their meals are cooked in an environmentally friendly manner, thanks to new technologies which promote both water and energy efficiency.

Sources report that this outlet is fully equipped with double-glazed windows, LED lights and several sensors specially designed to keep a close eye on energy consumption and help better manage this resource.

Moreover, the heated water needed in order for this outlet to function properly will be provided by a solar panel, and all the food will be served in packaging made from recycled material.

Interestingly enough, this environmentally friendly outlet in India is intended to aid the company in greening-up its working agenda, meaning that is will also double as a prototype/laboratory for testing technologies that promote sustainability.

Should things go as planned, KFC plans to make all of its outlets roughly 20% more efficient in the not so distant future, so we can only hope that this trial run proves to be a successful one.
