The C-Series: affordable speakers from KEF

For those who know a thing or two about what great home audio is, the name KEF needs no introduction. For those who still don't know what KEF stands for, I'll add that this brand is synonymous with some of the best and most praiseworthy loudspeakers around the world. Now, the fun part: KEF has always been a name traditionally associated with high and sometimes very high prices and you needed more than a common wage to get your hands on some nifty speakers form this British manufacturer.

It's with a truly great pleasure that we announce you that KEF have somehow descended among "simple mortals" and have unveiled their latest loudspeaker collection, codenamed the C-Series.

What's so special about these speakers? Well, in the first place, it's their price: you don't need to spend your lifetime savings on a set, as the C-Series from KEF now retails for very attractive prices. Next comes the legendary reliability and craftsmanship quality of anything that bears the KEF badge: even if these new speakers are available for more affordable prices, this doesn't mean they are baloney... because a name with KEF's respectability could never afford issuing lousy speakers.

It's true, the models in the C-Series are no longer loaded with the high-class Uni-Q concentric driver array; however, the tweeters equipping the new loudspeakers sport the same Tangerine waveguide used in the higher-end iQ range. The series comprises two bookshelf monitors, the C1 and C3, priced at $240/pair and $300/pair, respectively, two floorstanding models, the C5 and the C7, selling for $325/$400 each, the C6 LCR left-center-right speaker draining out some $250 per piece and the C4 subwoofer, retailing for around $400 a pop. Now sum all these up and you'll see the true proportions of the new deal you can get at KEF.

The C1 and C3 monitors also come with included wall-mounting brackets and the whole series will be available starting this month. While in black ash finish only, it's possible that KEF still has some aces up its sleeve, in terms of colors.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
