The KDE development team unleashed a few hours ago, March 7th, the first maintenance release for the KDE Software Compilation 4.8 environment.

There's no official announced at the moment, but we've dug up the raw changelog and it looks like the KDE Software Compilation 4.8.1 contains lots of fixes for apps like Dolphin, Kopete, KGpg, Okular, KGeography, Umbrello, and kdeui.

To view what exactly has been fixed in this maintenance of KDE SC 4.8 please take a look at the official changelog. KDE Software Compilation 4.8.1 will be a pleasant and safe update for all users.

Ubuntu/Kubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) users, as well as Gentoo and OpenSuSE 12.1 ones, will be able to upgrade to the KDE Software Compilation 4.8.1 environment in a couple of days.
