A user has spotted KDE Plasma being used in a control station for a particle accelerator

It's always nice to see Linux running in the most bizarre places and devices, but it seems that KDE Plasma running in a control station for a particle accelerator is the most natural thing in the world.

If we put aside the obvious irony of KDE Plasma running in a particle accelerator (plasma is sometimes used to accelerate particles), the fact that they are using Kwin and KDE says a lot.

It's also true that Linux distributions and applications are used in a lot of scientific projects, like the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland, for example. We also have to remember that the Red Hat-based Scientific Linux has a lot of users in the scientific community.
