The KDE Project developers have just released the first maintenance version of Applications and Platform 4.13, which comes with an impressive number of changes and improvements.

The KDE developers are keeping to a tight schedule and they have already launched the first update for the latest 4.13.x branch of their KDE Applications and Platform. This first upgrade covers a lot of ground and comes with numerous fixes.

All the features for a new branch of KDE are usually implemented well before the launch of the first version in the series, and all subsequent updates are only put in place to take care of various bugs and problems that are discovered afterwards.

“KDE released updates for its Applications and Development Platform, the first in a series of monthly stabilization updates to the 4.13 series. This release contains only bugfixes and translation updates, providing a safe and pleasant update for everyone.”

“More than 50 recorded bugfixes include improvements to Personal Information Management suite Kontact, Umbrello UML Modeller, the Desktop search functionality, web browser Konqueror and the file manager Dolphin,” reads the official announcement.

According to the developers, it's now possible to pan the window with the mouse, the lskat game no longer terminates with the “Game was aborted” message and without awarding any points, a transparency malfunction that occurred when pasting from another application has been fixed, selecting a tool no longer causes other tools to become difficult to access, and partitions that are not mounted are now mounted automatically when the user opens them in a new tab.

Also, a procedure to fix and upload name days holidays for the Greek language has been implemented, the konsole profiles widget no longer loses the cursor highlight, copying or moving a folder to one of its own subfolders is no longer possible, hitting the Ctrl+Click command on grouped tasks in the task manager is now working properly, a crash that occurred when dropping an image has been fixed, a memory leak that occurred when opening a URL with an invalid SSL certificate and clicking details has been fixed, and an option for disabling indexing has been added.

More details about this build and the changes in the 4.13 branch can be found in the official announcement, which, as usual, also comes with a number of updated packages and a few other smaller changes. Also, you can download the latest KDE Applications and Development Platform 4.13.1 sources right now from Softpedia.
