The KDE Project developers have released the third maintenance version for Applications, Platform and Plasma Workspaces, bringing some new, much needed fixes.

The KDE devs are still working to maintain the current generation of KDE Applications, Platform and Plasma Workspaces, although the final version of KDE Plasma 5 is already out, alongside KDE Frameworks 5.

Interestingly enough, there is another piece of software in development, 4.14, but it will be a while until it becomes stable. The fact is that KDE is being used by numerous distributions and it will take a while until everyone is willing to use the newer versions. After the 4.14 build exits the development stages, it will receive three more maintenance updates until that branch also reaches end of life.

Usually, only the first KDE build in the new series comes with new features and options. All other subsequent releases are only for maintenance and the developers use them to push fixes and smaller changes.

“Today KDE released updates for its Applications and Development Platform, the third in a series of monthly stabilization updates to the 4.13 series. This release also includes an updated Plasma Workspaces 4.11.11. Both releases contain only bugfixes and translation updates, providing a safe and pleasant update for everyone.”

“On the language front Farsi (Persian) reached the essential criteria and thus will be again part of this release. And once again Kopete has some important fixes: fixed formatting both plain and html messages when OTR plugin is enabled, loaded but not used for encrypting messages in chat window and fixed generating of html messages in jabber protocol. More than 40 recorded bugfixes include improvements to Personal Information Management suite Kontact, Umbrello UML Modeller, the Desktop search functionality, web browser Konqueror and the file manager Dolphin,” reads the official announcement.

According to the changelog, a crash that occurred while dragging files over navigator has been fixed, Konqueror no longer crashes when toolbars are edited, KOrganizer no longer crashes at exit, HTML-Message is no longer displayed extremely slow, indexing no longer stops after 1,200 files, and the proxy settings don't keep changing randomly.

More details about this build and the changes in the 4.13 branch can be found in the official announcement, which, as usual, also comes with a number of updated packages and a few other smaller changes. Also, you can download the latest KDE Applications and Development Platform 4.13.3 sources right now from the official website.
