The KDE Project has announced a few minutes ago, January 2, the immediate availability for download of the fifth and last maintenance release of KDE Software Compilation 4.9.

Last month we thought that KDE 4.9.4 was the last maintenance release for 4.9 branch of the KDE Software Compilation, but it looks like the developers decided to launch another point release, KDE 4.9.5, which brings fixes for 36 submitted bugs.

Among the updated apps in KDE 4.9.5, we can mention the Dolphin file manager and the KDE's development platform.

"4.9.5 updates bring many bugfixes and translation updates on top of the latest edition in the 4.9 series and are recommended updates for everyone running 4.9.4 or earlier versions."

"As the release only contains bugfixes and translation updates, it will be a safe and pleasant update for everyone," the official release announcement read.
