The KDE community has announced today the release of KDE 4.1.1, the latest version of one the most popular desktop managers. Many new additions are featured, including web development applications, educational tools, administrative programs and more, all of which are available in over 50 languages.

KDE 4.1.1 represents the monthly maintenance and bug fix update of the latest generation of KDE, and is available with a basic desktop, as well as numerous packages. Featured in the package suite are various utilities, network tools, games, multimedia software and an artwork collection.

The majority of applications have been improved to some extent, which has generated a large list of changes. Here are the most important:

· Konqueror (KDE's web-browser) and KHTML have seen considerable improvements in interaction, rendering correctness and performance.
· Stability, user interaction and rendering fixes in Plasma, the KDE4 desktop shell.
· Okular, the document viewer, has seen PDF backend fixes.
· Lots of fixes in the image viewer Gwenview, regarding thumbnailing; also, images with broken metadata can now be more robustly  retrieved and displayed.
· Stability and interaction fixes in KMail.

For a complete view of the changes in this release, see the official changelog.

Everyone currently using KDE 4.1.0 is advised to update to the most recent version. More, similar updates of the 4.1 generation will follow in the next months, culminating with a new feature release, KDE 4.2.0, expected in January 2009.
