It's true, both
KDDI and NTT DoCoMo have released a handful of phones each. And among KDDI's phone lineup, there's also the
W51T, manufactured by Toshiba that - as usual - firstly impresses with its good looks.
The clamshell comes equipped with a 2.6 inch 260k color rotating display with a QVGA resolution and a tiny external monochrome OLED display that can be quite useful at times, being designed to display service info, battery life, network signal level and more.
The phone will also provide the opportunity to take some pretty nice snapshots, as it comes equipped with a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and video recording capabilities.
It also packs a web browser, compatibility with EZ News Flash, an electronic dictionary, document viewer and is apparently TV enabled and features an antenna, but it is rather hard to understand for us, people not knowing Japanese.
Also, the phone comes with dedicated keys on the side for camera and TV and memory expansion is also possible due to a built-in MicroSD card slot. With an integrated music player, you can enjoy both TV, music and photos with this phone and store a pretty decent amount of files on a MicroSD memory card.
The phone measures 51x103x21 mm and weighs 142 grams, which is pretty much the usual for a typical Japanese clamshell phone. On CDMA 1X networks the phone will last up to 290 hours on standby and provide 220 minutes of talk time. Part of KDDI's
Spring Collection, the W51T comes in three colors, Dynamic Silver, Tranquil White and Gracious Orange.
