Two more April 2015 updates appear to be botched

Some of the updates that Microsoft released as part of this month’s Patch Tuesday cycle are causing issues to a number of Windows users, and it appears that there are also botched bulletins leading to various problems for Microsoft Office customers.

KB2965295 and KB2965270, both of which are bringing updates for Outlook users, are said to be causing some issues that prevent the calendar from working correctly, with the same errors being experienced on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 with Outlook 2010 and 2013.

As Woody Leonhard writes today, there are two error messages that users experiencing this behavior on their computers are getting, and the calendar could not be updated or it’s only showing free busy info.

Old updates being re-offered

Surprisingly, some users are also reporting trouble with two other updates that were released by Microsoft in the previous months and that appear to be causing issues for Office customers. Both KB2956128 and KB2956203 are being re-offered to users, some say, and they cause Outlook to stop responding.

KB2956128 is a February 2015 update for Outlook 2010 that Microsoft says should correct a number of issues with the email client, whereas KB2956203 was launched in March and addresses an issue in the same app that could cause some options to be disabled for your account. Neither KB2956128 nor KB2956203 has a known issues section in their official documentation.

And yet, this isn’t the first time when users are seeing issues with these updates, as there are several complaints pointing to the problems that both are causing to Outlook 2010. Still, it’s yet unclear why Microsoft is actually re-offering them to computers because they don’t seem to fix anything. On the contrary, they are causing the same problems as before.

Right now, the best way to address this trouble is to uninstall the updates and hide them until Microsoft comes up with a fix, but it’s not clear when this could actually happen. The company hasn’t yet provided a statement regarding the botched updates released this month, so expect some fixes in May.
