The update seems to be locked in an installation loop one month after launch

As I’ve reported to you almost three weeks ago, one of the updates released by Microsoft on October’s Patch Tuesday cycle got locked in an infinite installation loop that required users to reboot their computers over and over again.

Today, users are reporting basically the same problems, even though Microsoft initially explained that it had addressed the issues with a new fully-working patch.

The KB2862330 update is still being offered to Windows XP machines, but we’ve received reports that the same bulletin might be triggering the same installation loop error on other OS versions too, including Windows 7.

At this point, there’s still no workaround available, so your only option to get rid of the reboot notification is to completely hide the update until a patch is released.

We’ve reached out to Microsoft for a word on this, so I’ll update the article when and if we get an answer.
