Among the many mobile phones that would be on their way to the Chinese market during the ongoing year, one seems to be standing in the crowd, one that comes from a local maker, rather than from abroad, the K-Touch W700.

Apparently, Chinese phone manufacturer K-Touch decided to up the ante with the release of a powerful handset for its customers on the local market, and came up with a mobile phone that would pack some of the latest advancements in the industry.

One of them would be, of course, the inclusion of the Nvidia Tegra 2 application processor with the new device, a dual-core chip that should provide more performance levels to users.

Moreover, the new device sports a 3.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display, which should boast a 480 x 800 pixeles resolution, at least this is what Engadget notes in a recent article.

The hardware specifications of this device would also include a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, complemented by a 0.3 megapixel camera on the front.

Moreover, it should also pack 512MB of internal memory, most probably complemented by means to expand the available storage space.

According to the news, the new K-Touch W700 might become available for purchase in the country on China Unicom's WO network, but no official confirmation on the matter emerged for the time being.

This would be the first handset that the mobile phone maker would bring to the market with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo platform on board, though the company launched other Android-powered devices as well.

The new dual-core behemoth is expected to arrive on the Chinese market with a $540 price tag attached to it, and rumor has it that it would be slated for a mid-April release.

All in all, it appears that Chinese mobile phone users can prepare themselves for the release of a powerful handset in their country, one that is different from the LG Optimus 2X, the only dual-core phone announced for Asia at the moment.
