Retailing for prices under $500

Mobile phones that pack photo cameras with more than 5 Megapixels are not really new (think about Samsung B600, which has a 10 Megapixel camera), but there are still only a few of them on the market. K-Touch, a China-based manufacturer, decided to come with no less than three new handsets of this kind: C800, C280 and C700 (notice a "tiny" naming resemblance with Sony Ericsson's C902 and C702?).

K-Touch C800 and C280 share the same technical specs, but they have slightly changed designs (which are pretty weird, not sure if in a good or a bad way). Both phones offer an 8 Megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom, xenon flash, face detection and video recording - enough to allow users to take high-quality photos, theoretically at least. The rest of the common features include a 2.8 inch TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels and 260K colors, Music and Video players, "3D surround" speakers, Bluetooth, USB, 4GB of built-in memory (or microSD card support for up to 4GB - the Chinese-English translation is not too clear), and dual-band GSM connectivity with GPRS only. The phones have about 20 millimeters in thickness and pack 1300 mAh batteries that should provide up to 10 hours of talk-time and up to 350 hours of stand-by time.

K-Touch C700 is not so different from the other two phones in terms of design, but it comes with a 7 Megapixel camera that, unlike the ones packed in C800 and C280, features auto focus.

The new K-Touch C800, C280 and C700 handsets have retail prices of around 2,800 CNY, meaning about $410 or 260 Euros. For the moment, the devices seem to be available only across China and Hong Kong (maybe in Taiwan too), from various retailers, and there's no word about a possible release on other markets.
