The final conclusions of the Calciopoli scandal have been made public yesterday afternoon. After a pretty long investigation, the biggest teams in Italian football, Juventus and AC Milan, along with Fiorentina and Lazio, will have to face the sporting tribunal. More, besides the four clubs mentioned above, there are a number of 30 individuals - referees and sporting officials - that will also have to explain their wrongdoings before during trial.
Luciano Moggi, Antonio Giraudo, Adriano Galliani, Leonardo Meani, Andrea Della Valle, Diego
Della Valle, Sandro Mencucci, Claudio Lotito, Cosimo Maria Ferri, Franco Carraro, Innocenzo Mazzini, Tullio Lanese, Paolo Bergamo, Pierluigi Pairetto, Gennaro Mazzei, Pietro Ingargiola, Paolo Bertini, Massimo De Santis, Paolo Dondarini, Fabrizio Babini, Domenico Messina, Gianluca Paparesta, Gianluca Rocchi, Pasquale Rodomonti, Paolo Tagliavento, Claudio Puglisi and Adriano Galiani are the other people involved, one way or the other, in the scandal.
You might recognize the president of the Italian "Lega Calcio" among them. Well, it's true; Adriano Galiani is also involved with the wrongdoings in the Calciopoli case, even if he lately denied all these allegations. More, he blamed the media for trying to drag AC Milan into the scandal, saying that "this is nothing but a pathetic try to ruin our image in terms of international football".
Still, as soon as he found out about the final decisions of Francesco Borelli's report, he resigned from his current position of Italian League President. Milan and Fiorentina are, though, believed to have secondary roles in the whole deal, while Lazio and Juventus are on the verge of playing in Serie B next season. There were a number of teams that were under investigation, but have been considered clear of all corruption allegations. Those teams are Parma, Sampdoria and Udinese.
The four clubs, along with the 30 officials named above, will have to appear before a sporting trial between the 7th and the 9th of July, while a final - and I mean FINAL - decision concerning the fate of the clubs involved in the scandal will be made public on the 20th of July.
