Juventus Turin won their 29th Serie A title on Sunday, thanks to a 2-0 win at Reggina.
But who is to think about that now? In other conditions, it would have certainly been an unforgettable triumph. But, with the present situation at Juve, everyone from players to officials is suffering after the great scandal the "Old Lady" has gotten herself into. The last and cruel news came on Sunday, when it was admitted that, in case of a relegation decision from the Sports Court, Juventus could file for bankruptcy.
The sports judges will have to be very careful when taking a final decision in the "Juve" case, as it may well be the end of the club. Although it may seem a harsh affirmation, Michele Uva, ex-president of Lazio and Parma football clubs confirmed that Juventus are on the verge of financial collapse.
"First, let's consider the players` salaries. It is already known that Juve spends about 127 million euros a year on salaries for its players. The Serie B relegation will see Juventus having to pay the players the same contracts, but with less winnings. Why? Because they will lose all their TV and advertising financing. And that`s about 50% out of all income for Juve. Not only that, but the club`s presence in Serie B instead of Serie A will see the Juventus shares - since the club is part of the Italian Stock Exchange Market - collapse for sure. Finally, it hard to believe that Juventus will be able to sustain all these losses, since they don`t have a great company to back the "financial holes" at the club".
Uva also reminded that the Sports Court should not have all of this in mind when judging the case: "Otherwise it wouldn't be fair to the sport itself. They have to focus on the right decision, and let Juventus officials think about their problems".
