Broadcast from a video device in three easy steps

The broadcasting process has just gotten ridiculously simple on Justin.TV. The new method walks users through an easy and intuitive three-step interface, during which they register (login) on Justin.Tv, import friends (optional) and start broadcasting from their local video device.

During the last weeks, users and admins tested this new interface and got back stellar results and great feedback from all testers.

Amazingly simpler than the previous broadcasting mechanics, it uses a lot of AJAX technologies to perform real-time checking, as soon as the data is entered in each field.

A lot of the previous fields from the registration forms have been dropped, Justin.TV administrators opting for faster and more user-friendly registering interfaces, in line with the recent 2010 web design trends.

The interface automatically detects any kind of video source on the local computer, users only needing to click “start” for them to broadcast live video feeds across the web.

Even if the GUI is more user-friendly for regular visitors wanting to video chat live with family members across the web, it will present some troubles for the service owners, since very little legal information is acquired about the feed's owner.

This will be troubling since Justin.TV is targeted by MPAA and other copyright holders (especially those involved in sporting events transmissions) as a major outlet channel for piracy.

It is well known that services like Ustream, Veetle and especially Justin.TV have become the center of pirated NFL, NBA or UEFA Champions League soccer games. Even if Justin.TV representatives have been cooperative in shutting down these streams, copyright owners will certainly not be happy until proper measures to prevent these unlawful acts are taken.

Some screenshots of the three steps broadcasting process can be viewed in this post.
