From five-minute clips to two-hour-long broadcasts

Justin TV, one of the leaders in live video streaming, will surely make some users pretty happy in the near future. The company announced that it would be extending its Archive feature in the next weeks to take the service to a whole-new level of broadcast sharing and storage capabilities.

Currently, a Justin TV user can hold in their account small video broadcasts no more than five minutes long and no longer than one week old. Continuing on its facelift and rebranding campaign started this summer, the Archive feature will be renamed “Past Broadcasts” and will store clips with a time-length up to two hours for a period of six months. These past broadcasts cannot add up to more than 24 hours in length.

In this way, Justin TV takes small steps in becoming a YouTube copy, storing broadcasts for later usage. These broadcasts can be incorporated as normal videos with a simple embed tag in any other web page out there.

“As you can imagine, this is a big upgrade and we are checking and double checking the systems to make sure everything is right, but we wanted to let you know about the changes now because we are so excited and would love your feedback,” Caleb Elston, Justin TV representative, said. “We can't wait to roll out these changes, and will be doing so within a few weeks.”

Updates will also be made to the users' channel pages, where they will see past broadcasts and clips at the same time and will be able to make easy changes to any past broadcast (rename, move, edit, delete, etc.).

When launched, these features are sure to make a splash with Justin TV users that have constantly migrated from main rival Ustream because of Justin's more easier to handle platform.

At the same time, this move will surely stir more problems for the video-streaming company, which saw some legal and copyright disputes in the past on behalf and because of its users. Storing the evidence for longer will surely not help the website.
