The competition in the live streaming market is still going strong

The online live streaming market has been building up Steam in the past months and competition has been hard. Two names stand out, Ustream and Justin TV, but there is a large number of other valuable competitors so it's no surprise to anyone that development and the introduction of new features is going at a rapid pace. This time it's Justin TV's turn to try and overtake its competition by launching a completely redesigned site.

The new focus is on simplicity and streamlining, getting users broadcasting in as few steps as possible. In fact it's now as simple as it gets with the broadcaster available from the front page sporting a “Live broadcasting in one click” label and if you are logged in you can start broadcasting right away. The broadcaster shows up even for users who aren't logged in or don't have an account though all this does is change the order of the steps taken to get to the actual broadcasting. After clicking on the broadcast button users are asked to choose the device they will be using and then to log in or create an account; previously they had to log in and then navigate to the broadcasting page.

Another major feature is the integration of a Meebo chat client on the front page and in fact on any other page on the site. This would allow users to stay in touch not just in the purpose-built chat rooms but wherever they may be navigating on the site. Apparently, Justin TV is already seeing 10 percent of its daily 6 million messages coming from the IMs rather than the chat areas. Now the feature is available everywhere there may be more than the current 600,000 messages.

While Justin TV remains the biggest streaming site it was actually overtaken by Ustream in the last months in unique visitors in the US and with the constant innovations both sites are bringing, the battle doesn't show any sign of slowing down.
