This next story is about as weird as it can get for today. In fact, it's so weird, that it's hard not to believe it happened, simply because this is the kind of story you can't make up. It turns out that a Russian fisherman's life was saved by Justin Bieber's music.

But this is not one of those stories where Justin's music brought a man back from a coma or something similar. No, this is way more intense. The New York Post claims that a Russian fisherman narrowly avoided being mauled to death by a bear after his cellphone began ringing and scared the animal away.

You don't need to guess what music the cellphone played, but it suffices to inform you that as soon as Justin began singing on the man's cellphone, the bear bolted into the woods.

The fisherman's name is Igor Vorozhbitsyn, and judging from the photos published in the news, the bear was putting the work on him and it would have done the job all the way through, were it not for Justin's singing. Igor claims that he was heading for a fishing spot in Northern Russia when he was suddenly jumped by a bear.

“I had parked my car and was walking towards the spot I’d marked out when there was a tremendous impact on my back and the bear was on top of me,” Igor told the media. It doesn't take an animal behavior specialist to understand that the bear had the very clear intention of killing and eating the man.

By now, you must be curious as to what song was playing on the phone that frightened the wild animal. You will be pleased to know that the man had selected the song “Baby” from Justin's repertoire as the ringtone for his phone and this move ended up saving his life.

“I couldn’t believe my luck when the phone went off and he fled,” Vorozhbitsyn added with a smile. It seems that even though it saved his life, he's a bit ashamed of his musical taste now and admitted that “I know that sort of ringtone isn’t to everyone’s taste, but my granddaughter loaded it onto my phone for a joke.”

As soon as the bear fled in the woods, Vorozhbitsyn called for help and another fisherman came to his rescue. After the attack was over, the victim had time to survey the damage. The final tally is made up of lots of cuts and bruises on his face and chest and to his right arm, which he presumably used to block the bear's attacks.

The fisherman posted a photo of himself after the mauling and it shows his head bandaged, as well as some bandages on his abdomen and arms and hands.
