Even if he’s not an actor and didn’t even have a concert movie coming out, Justin Bieber was in Cannes last month for the 2014 edition of the Film Festival, because Cannes is the place to be at this time of the year. He partied with some stars who were there on legitimate business, but he didn’t get the chance to hang out with Leonardo DiCaprio, despite his most honest efforts.

A new report in the print issue of Star Magazine (via Uproxx) is as hilarious as it’s possibly true: apparently, Justin arrived at a club and saw DiCaprio at his table and he just assumed Leo would be thrilled to hang out with him.

Leo wasn’t, and he made sure he let him know it in the most direct fashion. If there is any truth to the report, it’s clear that no one does dissing quite like Leo.

“Justin was strutting his stuff all over the club, walking around shirtless and scoping out chicks. But when he heard Leo was there, he had his bodyguard muscle a path to where Leo was sitting,” an insider reveals for the celebrity publication.

He sent “the goon” over to ask the actor for permission to come to his table. Clearly, because Justin is used to having the entire world spin around him, he probably didn’t imagine he’d be turned down, let alone that he’d be turned down like that.

“Justin was nodding and smiling in Leo’s direction, but Leo just shook his head no and waved him off. He thinks Justin’s a little twit. Leo doesn’t want or need photo ops with publicity-hungry, manufactured pop stars,” the insider goes.

Of course, if you’re a fan of Justin Bieber’s, you’ll probably say that DiCaprio was rude and that he could use a lesson (or two) on manners: just because you happen to not like someone doesn’t mean you have to be a douche around them.

Those who aren’t fans and who have come to believe, mostly because of Justin’s annoying behavior these past few months, that he’s in a serious need of wake-up call, are already saying on dedicated forums that Leo did right, because he put him in his place.

A recent report says that DiCaprio also refused to party with the Kardashians and be filmed for their reality show. This too isn’t that surprising since it’s a well-known fact that he likes his privacy just as much as he likes his exclusive parties and his Victoria’s Secret models. The man loves to party but he will be gone in a second if you point a camera at him.

Clearly, he thought hanging out with Bieber would be a total displeasure, and he made sure he let him know it.
