There’s a birthday surprise. Over the weekend, at the end of his sold-out concert in Berlin, Justin Bieber brought his mom on stage for a special birthday surprise – and accidentally set her hair on fire.

Pattie Mallette was obviously overwhelmed by the nice gesture and even more so when she heard all the Beliebers in the venue sing “Happy Birthday” to her, PopEater notes.

She was equally surprised to see that her son Justin even had a birthday cake for the occasion (she turned 35), so she happily made her wish and proceeded to blowing the candles out.

Yet, as she leaned over the cake to do so, a strand of her hair caught fire. Luckily, Justin noticed just in time and he quickly put the fire out, saving the day, as he later joked on Twitter.

“Sick show in Berlin... brought @studiomama on stage 2 sing her happy bday but she lit her hair on fire with the candles. lol. i saved her,” the pop star tweeted to his millions of fans all over the world.

Pattie confirmed the story on her own Twitter, and used the opportunity to thank her loving son for “embarrassing” her in front of so many people.

“Thank you for all your b-day wishes!! All I want is your prayers. Thank u @justinbieber for the cake (& embarrassing me on stage lol.) Xo,” she tweeted.

Luckily, the hair on Justin’s mom’s head is not as famous as Justin’s, or this could have been a real tragedy.

We were telling you last week that Bieber’s hair – those locks he cut off a while back and that he donated to charity, raising $40,000 in the process – is so famous it even has its own bodyguard as it’s travelling around the country.

The locks, which would have otherwise been discarded, are being displayed on a tour across the US and fans who want a picture with them have to pay. That money also goes to charity.
