The other day, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper awarded Justin Bieber a Diamond Jubilee Medal in Ottawa. Photos from the event immediately emerged online, with many noticing that the singer hardly made an effort where his wardrobe was concerned.

Gawker and the Daily Mail agreed that the label “White Trash Prince” would fit him like a glove considering he’d chosen neon sneakers, overalls, a white tee and an inverted cap for the ceremony.

The fact that Harper was in a suit only served to make Justin look worse and completely out of place, considering the event that was taking place.

However, all those saying he’s white trash for dressing like this don’t know the half of it, The Biebs fights back on Instagram.

Posting a screencap of the Daily Mail article reading he should have made more of an effort to meet the Prince Minister, Justin writes that not all is as it seems in the photo.

For starters, they were not at an official event, even though the flags in the background could easily fool one into believing this.

“The picture of me and the Prime Minister was taken in a room in the area where i was performing at that day,” The Biebs writes.

“I walked straight from my meet and greet to him, if you ‘Hayley’ [the name of the Daily Mail reporter] expect me to have a change of clothes let a loan [sic] a suit at that specific time that's crazy,” the star writes.

He goes on to note that he would have worn a suit if the occasion were more formal.

“It wasn't like it was like I was going into his environment we were at a hockey arena. Wow am i ever white trash hayley peterson lol,” Justin further wrote.

By that time, it didn’t even matter anymore for his fans, as their thousands of comments on Instagram clearly reveal.

He could have worn the same clothes to the actual, formal meeting and he would have still looked great, Beliebers are quick to ensure their idol. Whatever the haters are saying to the contrary must surely come from jealousy.

When I graduated in June 1987 from UofT one of the guys in my class wore a pair of brand new white overalls and a straw hat to make a point for the people who had made several derogatory comments about where he was from, up north.
To laugh at them he pulled this off and our profs who knew him had a great laugh even at a formal and distinguished event at Convocation Hall.
We don't know why JB received this award and when he was supposedly to receive this award. Was he caught off guard? Probably, and had known the appointed time and place for this presentation, more than likely he would have worn more acceptable attire.
Okay everyone, make sure you are formally attired when you get yours!
