If there was some confusion when androgynous male model Andrej Pejic was voted FHM’s 98th hottest woman in the world, there’s bound to be some in this case as well: COED Magazine says Justin Bieber is, according to Google, the second most popular woman online. What’s even more interesting is that the pop star, who counts on one of the biggest and most loyal fanbases a celebrity could ever boast of (mostly comprised of teen girls), actually went up five places since last year.
A short while ago,
COED released its annual top 50 Most Popular Women on the Web chart. While the names in the top 10 are not really that surprising – Katy Perry, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Cher – there is one that should definitely not be there.
With no less than 496,000,000 results, Justin Bieber is officially COED’s second most popular woman (with emphasis on “woman”) on the Web.
To mark the occasion, the magazine even describes his rise in popularity (from the seventh to the second position) speaking of him as if of a girl.
“This purple wearing pop star has been strangely popular for some time. She ranked #7 last year, but a 3D movie, new tats, and a new necklace all played a part in her rise. The major cause for change is her new relationship with Selena Gomez,” COED writes.
Granted, that Bieber is more famous with each day shouldn’t come as a surprise: it’s enough for him to go out and do the most mundane of things (or
not do them, apparently) and he’s already in the international headlines.
Speaking of
not doing things, yesterday, word got out that Justin and Selena Gomez
had broken up. Though the rumor seemed to come from nowhere and have zero grounds, it spread like wild fire, becoming one of the trendiest topics online.
E! has confirmation that it’s not true, Justin and Selena are still an item: “A source close to the Biebs confirms to E! News that the split never happened and that Justin and Selena are as close as ever and very much a loved-up unit. Phew!”
Still, this instance is nothing but yet another confirmation that Bieber is as popular, if not actually more, than ever.
