The other day, pop sensation Justin Bieber got a haircut, for the first time in a while appearing in front of a camera without his trademark “The Bieber” bowl cut. As a result, he’s lost 80,000 Twitter followers in just hours, it has emerged.

A new piece on The Judiciary Report claims that fans were so disappointed in Justin for cutting his hair that they decided to unfollow him on the social networking site.

Not that Justin would be able to tell whether he’s bleeding followers or not, since he already has over 7.5 million of them and he would only realize some of them are gone if their number is larger.

Still, as the aforementioned e-zine notes, when you lose 80,000 fans over a thing as simple as a haircut, this means you’re huge – and also that you can prompt very strong reactions in them with whatever you do.

“Based on reports today, 17-year-old pop singer, Justin Bieber, lost 80,000 fans on Twitter, after cutting his hair,” The Judiciary Report says.

Apparently, this would enable one to conclude that the cut is not flattering on Justin and that those 80,000 fans who stopped following him on Twitter believe the same.

Then again, it’s just a haircut, it’s not like he suddenly announced he’s quitting the music industry, so perhaps those followers are exaggerating.

“Oh well, it's just hair, it will grow out, but styling is important in the public eye. It’s not about being vain, but looking finished, polished and presentable,” TJR notes.

“No word on what the Bieber has to say about his audience’s reaction to his new ‘do,” the e-zine says. Clearly, there’s not much he can do by means of getting back those fans that left.

On the other hand, most of his fans give him credit for taking a simple haircut and turning it into something that helps others as well: Justin has agreed to send locks of hair to various parties who will be auctioning them for charity.

A lock he gave to Ellen DeGeneres crossed the $1,000 bidding mark on eBay in just hours after going up on auction.
