A few months ago, Kendall Jenner was spending so much time with Canada’s most significant export, pop star Justin Bieber, that everyone from the fans to celebrity pundits assumed there must be something romantic going on between them.

We still don’t know if there was (or is), but at least now, with the April 2015 issue of Vogue magazine, the edition with tennis champ Serena Williams on the cover, we know that they also worked on a new secret project together.

The “New Brat Pack”

That project is a spread for the prestigious fashion publication, which isn’t so much about fashion as is about praising them for forging a double career: as entertainers (she’s a model and a reality star, he’s a singer) and as celebrities.

Vogue calls them, along with Gigi Hadid, Ansel Elgort, and Dylan and Hopper Penn, the “New Brat Pack,” in reference to the ‘80s group of actor friends who were the original Brat Pack.

This one included Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Demi Moore, Andrew McCarthy, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy and Anthony Michael Hall. The funny part is that they actually hated being called that and may have even stopped hanging out together because they were ashamed of the moniker attached to their group of friends.

Vogue, of course, uses the term now as a compliment, including here celebrities with a huge following on social media and lots of activity online. Justin and Kendall are huge on Twitter and Instagram, as also is Ansel Elgort of the “Divergent” and “Fault in Our Stars” fame.

Vogue also refers to them as “the Instagram aristocracy.”

Hadid is an up-and-coming young model, while Dylan and Hopper Penn are Sean Penn’s children. At one point, Sean too was associated with the original Brat Pack, so it does feel like we’ve come full circle.

A gorgeous spread

What stands out from the issue is the gorgeous spread, shot by famed photographer Mario Testino. These young celebrities might not mean much for an older audience (say, past 30), but the spread is meant to bring back a sense of nostalgia for them too.

The same issue of Vogue also includes something called The Towel Series, also shot by Testino. In reality, this means that Justin gets another chance to remove his clothes and show off his sculpted and heavily tattooed body.

Not that any Beliebers are complaining.
