Teen pop star Justin Bieber is being investigated in Canada after the father of a boy told police Justin hit his child during a game of laser tag. Reports say, however, that the boy bullied Justin, hurling a homophobic slur at him.
Word in the local press has it that the father of the boy, the alleged victim, told police that Bieber hit his child during an altercation that took place in the venue.
Admittedly,
TMZ informs, several other boys cornered Justin and he, as he tried to make his escape, accidentally hit a 12-year-old boy who wasn’t even involved in the first place.
Police confirmed for TMZ that an investigation was underway, but wouldn’t say whether the person accused of assault was Bieber or not.
However, it could be that it was the supposed victim who lashed out at Bieber, and the pop star merely tried to defend himself as he backed out of a confrontation,
TMZ reports, citing sources on the scene.
According to several reports, the 12-year-old boy
targeted Bieber repeatedly in the game and then tried to provoke him to react violently by hurling homophobic insults at him.
“We’re told that during the game of laser tag, one kid went out of his way to target Justin repeatedly (a violation of the code of honor of laser tag, if there is such a thing),” TMZ says.
“Sources say that Bieber became frustrated when the kid cornered him and wouldn’t stop shooting and when Bieber told him, ‘That’s enough’... the kid responded, ‘What are you gonna do about it, [expletive]?’” the same media outlet reports.
“We’re told a shocked Bieber replied, ‘Excuse me?’ Sources say the other kid responded, ‘You’re a [expletive]’ and then put his hand out toward Bieber and Bieber pushed it away as he left,” TMZ explains.
In other words, Bieber never struck the boy, but merely pushed his hand aside so that he could get out of his face and not respond to his taunts.
However, chances are the boy’s father saw of this minor incident an opportunity to make some money.
“Law enforcement tells TMZ it was the boy’s father who filed the complaint hours later... and our source says the father was heard at the scene repeatedly telling people, ‘I’m a lawyer’,” TMZ points out.
The same e-zine also notes that the investigation is still ongoing, but police have already determined that the fault does not lie with
Justin Bieber but are yet to take an official stand.
