Justin Bieber Almost Incites a Riot in Liverpool, Goes on Lockdown

Bieber fever has reached a new, never before seen pitch the other day in Liverpool, when hundreds of screaming fans gathered outside Justin Bieber’s hotel. Police put him on lockdown for fear a riot might start.

The teen singer is in Liverpool for a live show, having arrived earlier to do some sightseeing and get proper rest before getting up on stage.

His plans for the latter may have been foiled by the hoards of screaming fans gathered outside his hotel, the Hard Days Night.

To keep the situation under control, police were forced to shut down several streets and to sternly warn the singer not to leave his hotel room, or risk being arrested for inciting a riot, The Hollywood Reporter says.

“In scenes reminiscent of Beatlemania, which gripped the city five decades ago, Liverpool police have been forced to form a barricade around the city-centre hotel and close down the surrounding streets to accommodate the hysteria,” THR notes.

Bieber and his entourage have been told not to leave the hotel until he’s due on stage to perform, or else police would not be able to contain the situation.

Hotel manager Mike Dewy spoke to THR and tried to downplay talk of how the entire hotel is on lockdown, basically saying that the only one on lockdown is The Biebs.

“It’s very good natured. People who have reservations in the restaurant are still coming in and people are drinking in the bars. It’s just a bit louder than usual,” Dewy says.

“The police are managing the situation but people can still get in and out, there’s no sense of threat. I feel a bit sorry for the people around the hotel, but for the majority of girls outside, they are having a great time. He’s easiest the biggest star we have had here for years,” he adds.

Indeed, it’s pretty loud outside the hotel. Justin Bieber himself took to Twitter to urge fans to check themselves and not cause problems – and to keep the noise to a minimum so that he could rest.

“this is crazy. there are like thousands of people out there. love everybody but gonna try and get some sleep. please dont scream. lol,” he tweeted.
