Avalanche studios published a video featuring a trip to Costa Rica, during which the team was shown deep in the middle of the Costa Rican rainforest, recording sounds and vistas they intended to base their future productions on.

The Just Cause games benefited from a stunning representation of a vibrant tropical forest, a truly immersive experience based on real life, which showed the dedication Avalanche put into their work.

Just Cause 2's setting was the fictional island of Panau, which was very much inspired by the Costa Rican jungle, as CVG reports. As such, this video depicting the collection of reference material leads to speculation regarding just where it might be used.

Apart from vegetation and animals, the team also recorded water and sky motions with high framerate cameras, in order for them to study how to better implement their simulations for a more realistic end result.

Avalanche CEO Christofer Sundberg revealed that the studio was hard at work developing two unannounced PS4 and Xbox One games. At a later date, one of the two was revealed to be Mad Max.

Although it is never explicitly stated, Avalanche's Costa Rican jungle research fits in the context of former Just Cause titles. This video of the team immersed in a tropical paradise might just mean that the third installment in the Just Cause series is in development.
