Avalanche Studios is currently working on the next installment in its madness simulator franchise, Just Cause 3, which will encourage players to explore their creativity.

In a recent interview, Just Cause 3 Game Director Roland Lesterlin has revealed more information regarding the open-world series, stating that the studio is making sure that the experience will be all about players having fun, keeping a lighthearted tone.

"I think it's lighthearted, so from the very beginning we're always sitting there and checking out the world and saying ‘well, if I'm playing with physics and I've tethered someone up to a wall and then a car next to it and the whole thing explodes,' well it's just silly."

"And then if you had a serious story next to it, it just wouldn't really fit together, so our story has the same sort of humor in it. It allows us to be a little campy and fun," Lesterlin told GameReactor.

Just Cause 3 is all about having fun

The previous installments are notorious for their fast-paced over-the-top action sequences, and that's the thing that Avalanche is pushing for with the next episode.

Everything in the game is silly and humorous, having the feel of a B action movie, with wild characters and crazy scenarios, and it's not as much about painting a realistic picture or delivering a heartfelt story, as it is about sowing the seeds of anarchy and reaping the reward in a fun way.

Sure, the setting has always been an island plagued by the despotic rule of an iron-fisted dictator enforcing his rule through military abuse, but it was never meant to be taken at face value, merely a sandbox for players to have fun in.

Just Cause 3 will also be all about the players and their creativity, exploring new and crazy ways to experience the action.

The game is scheduled to drop sometime during 2015's holiday season, headed to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Avalanche is currently also working on Mad Max, a post-apocalyptic vehicular combat video game set in the same universe as the Mad Max film series, slated for a 2015 release, on PC and previous and current gen consoles.
