The Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod launches on December 16 on Steam, Valve's digital distribution platform.

“JC2-MP is a project to bring multiplayer to Just Cause 2 in all of its magnificent glory. Imagine the chaos of normal Just Cause 2, then extending it out to dozens, hundreds, and even thousands of players,” its creator's Steam page boldly states.

Once available, both the client and the server will be downloadable and completely integrated with Steam, just like any normal game.

The servers have been reported to support thousands of players during the beta, without the world feeling cluttered.

The launch is scheduled just 2 days after the end of the final beta test, as EuroGamer points out.

Avalanche Studios' Just Cause 2 was released as a single-player game back in 2010, but the many mods, the best of which are featured at JustCause2Mods, and regular multiplayer beta tests have ensured that the game still has a healthy following.

The game also presents pretty solid racing opportunities that will surely be the main draw for some of the players.

Players will be able to explore the game's stunning environment and start all kinds of trouble with their friends, like synchronized falling off of an airplane or grappling around the island like the Legion of Tarzan.

The grappling hook and parachute are notable features of Just Cause 2, as they afford the player a very strong gameplay dynamic, allowing them to jump from vehicle to vehicle and trek through the world in a unique manner.

The PlayStation 3 version's ability to capture and export gameplay videos on the fly, from within the game, is sure to create an explosion of content and traffic once the mod launches.

All in all, the multiplayer mod is guaranteed to give “chaos” a whole new meaning.
