Recent figures shared with the public by the Energy Information Administration in the United States show that, in 2013, just 12 of the country's states accounted for roughly 80% of the overall wind power produced in this part of the world.

In its report, the Energy Information Administration details that, last year, the United States generated a total of 167 million MWh of wind power. The twelve states that provided most of this energy had a combined output of 134 million MWh.

Clean Technica announces that, according to information at hand, Texas was the state that produced the most wind power. More precisely, its output was one of 36 million MWh.

It was followed closely by Iowa, whose wind power production amounted to over 15 million MWh, the same source details.

California, Oklahoma, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Oregon, Colorado, Washington, North Dakota, and Wyoming are the other 10 states that had an especially good year in terms of wind power generation in 2013.

Specialists with the Energy Information Administration further explain that, in 2013, wind power generation accounted for 4.1% of the United States' overall electricity production. When compared to 2012, this represents an increase of 0.6%.

Besides, it would appear that, in 2013, an increase of over 10% in wind generation over 2012 levels was documented in as many as 23 states.
