Most of us are used to the desktop software simple and intuitive installation and usage methods. Regarding server based or server side applications, certain technical
knowledge is necessary in order to install and use a given software.

On the other hand, many of the actual server side applications are distributed with an automatic installer which increase the accessibility spectrum for people with reduced knowledge. But, when the time comes to determine or setup server based software requirements or to change specific server or third party applications settings, many people could not finalize successfully the installation of a given server side application.

The universal solution for this type of problems is represented by JumpBoxes. They are based on the virtualization techniques (virtual machines) and allow you to run a pre-installed server side application on any operating system. Practically, you will be able to deploy a server side application only with a touch of a button, without the need of performing supplementary adjustments to your system. The only requirement is the existence of a certain type of virtualization platform like VMWare, Parallels or Microsoft.

On the jumpbox.com website you will find many JumpBoxes for open source server side applications like Drupal, Joomla!, MediaWiki and more. The main advantage of JumpBoxes is represented by the reduced time interval necessary to install and deploy a certain server side application. Since it does not require technical knowledge, JumpBoxes based technology of creating "ready to go" server side application has a high degree of universality in implementation.

You can install multiple versions of an application simultaneously, back-up and share data, transport the application across multiple operating systems like Windows, Linux and MacOS. If you want to try any of the available appliances, it is recommended to check the system requirements first.
