14 DAY TRIAL // If Michael C. Hall and wife Jennifer Carpenter are getting a divorce – and they are – it’s not because he had an affair with co-star Julia Stiles, she says in statement released to People, meant to put an end to the rumors.
As word has gotten out that Carpenter has filed divorce papers citing “irreconcilable differences” and stating as date of separation August 2010, Stiles is also speaking out to deny reports emerged the other day.
Apparently, the reason why Hall was getting a divorce was because he’s been having an affair with Stiles while shooting for season 5 of Showtime’s “Dexter,” reports said.
In other words, Stiles was the reason why the marriage of the two other actors did not work out, an allegation she would like to have rubbished, which is why she’s releasing a statement about it.
“I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer. We are good friends and enjoyed working together,” Stiles says in the statement.
She also says that she normally doesn’t pay any attention to such malicious and unfounded rumors, but, just this once, she’s making an exception because she’s friends with the two.
“This is a personal matter between them, and we should respect their privacy. Although I too prefer to keep my private life, private – I felt compelled to dispel the rumors I was somehow the cause for this matter,” the actress says.
As we also noted yesterday, shortly after the shocking divorce announcement came, rumors started to circulate saying that Hall had been having an affair – and everybody on the “Dexter” set, including wife Jennifer, knew it.
In fact, unnamed spies were telling the tabs, the show’s producers also picked up on it and made the love scenes between Dexter (Hall) and Lumen (Stiles) all the more intense to milk the affair for what was worth.
At the same time, other reports claimed Jennifer had been telling staff about the marital problems so, at least for some, the divorce announcement didn’t come out completely out of the blue.
As it turns out, none of that was true, as per Stiles’ statement.
