“You have to stand in front to make sure you’re seen,” guest judge says of the Foxtrot

Julianne Hough came back to Dancing With the Stars last night, but it wasn’t for a number on the dancefloor. As the video above can confirm, she guest judged in Len Goodman’s absence, offering useful advice and making some very sound observations throughout the night.

One pro dancer in particular didn’t look pleased with her critique and that was Mark Ballas, against whom she competed directly many times.

Julianne pointed out that his choreography tended to favor himself and not his partner, which is what she felt happened with his Foxtrot with Christina Milian.

“I really wanted to see you shine. I danced with Mark. You have to stand in front to make sure you’re seen,” Julianne said of the pair’s side-by-side dancing.

By Mark’s smile, he didn’t take the remark kindly but, if that was the case, he was collected enough by the end of the show to actually shrug it off.

“She put a little sting on me, but that’s okay. That’s how she felt. It is what it is,” Mark told EW backstage.

Check out Mark and Christina’s Foxtrot above and let me know what you think about it: does it seem like Mark is trying to steal her spotlight all for himself?
