Julia Roberts will appear next in the play The Normal Heart and, to draw attention to the project, she stopped the other night by The Ellen DeGeneres Show where, among other things, she also discussed tattoos and how happy she is George Clooney is engaged.

The happy news broke in late April, with Amal Alamuddin’s parents confirming it shortly afterwards. Because most of the world assumed that Clooney would never settle down and because he and Amal are refusing to speak to the press about it, their friends are basically targets for all questions on the engagement.

Though she’s never met George’s fiancée, Amal, Julia tells Ellen she’s very happy for him – and for both. “I think it is sublime. She is beautiful and smart, and he is happy and that’s what matters to me,” she says.

You will notice in the first video that she’s wiping away tears, but she’s not crying. The second video below explains what made Julia apparently so emotional: she had a laughing fit earlier with Ellen, first talking about tattoos in general – and hers in particular – and then about a pair of handmade shoes she gave the host as present.

She’s the cutest thing ever when she laughs, isn’t she? Check it out.
