A few days ago, a Jaguarundi cub born at Prague Zoo about a month ago, on September 1, finally worked up the courage to venture outside his den for the first time.

Keepers say that, although it is still a tad shy, the cub is ready and willing to explore the world outside his delivery kennel.

Zoo Borns tells us that, apart from venturing outside his den, the cub has also displayed an interest in eating something more “grown up” than the milk his mother produces for him.

Thus, it has taken his first bites of meat, and appears to have enjoyed the experience.

This species of wild cats is native to Central and South America. Presently, they are not listed as a threatened species.

However, conservationists warn that their population has been steadily decreasing over the past few years, especially due to the fact that humans have been turning their natural habitats into agricultural lands.
